Cyclone separators

Cyclone separators

Cyclone dust separators are mechanic separators of dust particles, which use centrifugal force to separate dust particles from the extracted air. Dust-laden air enters the cyclone separator from the top – into the eccentric lead-in, where the air begins to rotate around the cyclone’s axis. Dust particles under the centrifugal force slide over the inner surface of the separator and then are gravitationally carried down towards the discharge flange. The air exits through the upper part of the cyclone separator. For proper operation of the cyclone, it is necessary to separate the waste disposal flange from the surrounding environment, so the air flow inside the separator is not compromised and to prevent air from exiting through the discharge flange.

The most common applications

Cyclone separators are successfully utilized for high-efficiency separation of heavy pollutants from extracted air. The most common application is sawmill extraction of wet and heavy sawdust. Cyclone separators are also used as pre-separators in front of the filter. Placing them in front of the filter reduces the strain on the filtration unit and contributes to stable operating conditions of the whole HVAC system. The cyclone separators are also used in solid-fuel boilers air dust extraction, where they pre-separate sparks, and thus lower the risk of filter combustion. Another possible application is in the woodworking industry.

CYCLONE SEPARATORS

Cyclone separators power parameters

Cyclone separators are designed in power series from CF0 (600 m3/h) up to CF14 (30 000 m3/h). When filtering large volumes of air is requested, more separators are connected in series to create a multi-cyclone separator. Cyclone separator of any power contributes to the pressure loss inside the HVAC system of about 1200 to 1500 Pa.

Air volume regulation

The exhaust power of cyclone separators can be regulated, however it is necessary to anticipate decrease in the centrifugal power. Lowering the exhaust power slows down the air rotation inside the separator, which reduces its efficiency. Cyclone separators operate best under constant workload.

Special design

Cyclone separators produced by our company can be made of stainless steel, with optional casing heating and insulation. The separators are assembled from individual parts connected with flanges, so that, in case of abrasion, each part can be easily replaced. Can also be used as pre-separators.

Cyclone separators accessories.

Standard cyclone separator unit includes expansive container for dust discharge, which slows the rotating material before it reaches the rotary feeder, which seals the whole unit under pressure.
Sealing the dust discharge is critical for proper operation of the cyclone separator. The rotary feeder does not allow unwanted air escaping or entering the unit, which contributes to the balance of the whole unit.
Cyclone separators are mainly used in woodworking industry and for solid-fuel boiler air extraction.
