Efficient coal feeding dust extraction

Manipulating coal produces dust, which spreads and settles around the transportation routes. High concentrations of coal dust particles and their settling in workplace can pose an explosion hazard. The biggest sources of coal dust in coal feeding applications are: coal unloading in unloading pits, coal transport and transfer points, coal loading in boilers and filling bunkers. CARM GH filtration and extraction device extracts dust directly at its source and prevents it from spreading to and settling in the workplace.

Coal Unloading Pit Dust Extraction

Coal is unloaded into underground containers, from where it is conveyed for further processing. When coal is unloaded from a railway car, it produces large amounts of dust. Our solutions extract this dust before it reaches the rest of the workplace. Extraction devices are installed under service platforms. Filtration devices are adjusted for explosive dust extraction. When designing explosive dust solutions, we adhere to the following rules: Extraction ducts are properly electrically connected between individual components from extraction device to the filtration device. The whole system is properly grounded. CARM GH is equipped with relief membranes, which face to a safe area. The filter casing is pressure-resistant and the filter medium is antistatic. The extraction ducts are equipped with return flaps to prevent shockwaves from spreading further into the duct system and the exhaust velocity is always kept above 20 m/s.

Smart exhaust power control

Regulating exhaust power in coal feeding applications is limited due to minimum required exhaust velocity inside the extraction ducts. Regulating extraction branches can be applied in coal conveyance stations, where more types of conveyance are applied. One central extraction device is installed for these applications and the system automatically closes and opens flaps for the active source of dust. The filtration system is turned on and off automatically together with the conveyors.

Coke dust extraction

Separating and manipulating coke produces dust, which spreads and settles around the transportation routes and in the workplace. The biggest sources of coke dust in coke sorting are coke crushers and separators, belt conveyor transfer points and coke loading. The filtration and extraction device extracts dust directly at its source and prevents it from spreading to and settling in the workplace.

Coke separation dust extraction

Unlike coal dust, coke dust is not explosive, but it is much more abrasive for the extraction ducts and other components. CARM GH filtration devices for coke dust filtration are most commonly used in coarse and fine coke separators. We extract dust at crushers, separators, conveyors transfer points, elevators and wagon loading. In most cases, we connect each dust source with extraction ducts, which lead to a central filtration device. Due to the high abrasiveness of coke dust, we use SK III thick-walled welded piping for our solutions. Bends, flaps or dampers are heavily worn by the extracted abrasive dust. CARM GH filtration device has thermally insulated casing and heated filter hopper. The filtered dust is usually stored in dust containers for further technological processing.

Smart exhaust power control

Extraction branches control is used for switching between temporarily active and inactive separators. Coke transfer points usually have multiple combined transport routes, so they need to be connected to a central extraction system, which automatically turns dampers on and off to focus exhaust power to the active source of dust. The filtration system is turned on and off automatically together with the conveyors.

Filter medium replacement cost

We design and deliver our solutions for our clients with minimum filtration device maintenance cost in mind. Our devices are equipped with smooth filtration sleeves made of microporous filtration fabric. Filtration sleeves won’t create deposits, don’t tear and have high mechanical resistance. For coke dust extraction applications, we guarantee filter medium service life of at least 20 000 hours.
