Extraction system for a glassworks

Jihlava / Czech Republic

The Kryf glassworks in Jihlava has been using CIPRES filtration technology to remove dust from its glass furnaces for several years. This year, the existing technology was replaced and supplemented with a new filtration unit, which complies with new legislative requirements and allows the full potential of the furnaces to be utilised whilst meeting emission limits.

The new filtration technology was implemented in a configuration designed for the extraction of glass-making flue gases, i.e. a filtration medium with high-temperature resistance (180°C over the long term – with peak temperatures of 200–220 °C), selected parts of the filtration unit made from stainless steel, an insulated filter housing and other special modifications.

The technology is complemented by an intelligent control system – automatic monitoring of flue gas temperature at the filter inlet, controlled regulation of forced cooling air intake, monitoring of the temperature inside the filter and, if necessary, automatic switching of the system to bypass mode, including an alert.

The entire control system can be operated remotely.

The correct functioning of the filtration technology was verified by the results of an authorised emissions measurement carried out upon completion of the project.

The TZL measurement values achieved range from 0.05 to 0.1 mg/m³, which is well below the statutory limit.
